I kept going round and round in my head about which pair of shoes I wanted to showcase in today's Shoesday post. I always feel really guilty singling out one thing in my closet because I don't want to make the others jealous! It's winter, and still very much boot and sweater weather, but for whatever reason, I really wanted to post about a more spring-feeling shoe. Wishful thinking I suppose. That said, I bring to you the Barbie of all shoes - my D&G Pink Patent Peep Toe Slingbacks.
I can honestly tell you that this is *the only* pair of slingbacks I own. That's kind of a big deal considering how many pairs of shoes I have. I tend to shy away from slingbacks because the heel strap always seems to fall on me, and I hate when I'm wearing pants and the pant hem slips between my heel and the shoe. However, I saw these, and I was in love.
So, how did I find these babies? Well, the husband was in Vegas for a work convention. He decided to play penny slots. He ended up winning a hefty chunk of change - several hundred. I wasn't with him in Vegas at the time, but he agreed to share the winnings with me, hence my new pair of shoes. A friend and I were exchanging text messages about what shoes I should buy! She literally was on the Bluefly website sending me links of potential purchases. It was like shoe porn. The second these shoes popped up, I was sold. Slingbacks and all. The quilting of the insole is so special and lush! And I honestly didn't have a pink shoe in my collection, so it filled that void. Basically, they're beautiful in every way. The shoes ended up fitting true to size and I have no issues with the back strap falling, which is awesome.
My favorite outfits I have paired these with consisted of navy and black and white. I really think you can wear hot pink shoes in similar ways you would wear red shoes.
And if all else fails, anything goes with sequins.
