Home

Like Mynded floral top
American Eagle shorts

Jimmy Choo wedges (seen here, budget option)

I've been keeping my whereabouts on the downlow this week. You see, I only had to work Monday and Tuesday then took vacation days for the rest of the week to come home to San Antonio. My siblings and I devised a plan to surprise my parents for their birthdays. (Their birthdays are back to back this week.) Our extended family is in California, so the majority of our holidays are spent there. Even though we aren't here much, I still call Texas home. We haven't all been here since my brother graduated from college about 4 years ago. Crazy.

Anyway, long story short, my parents had no idea that me and the husband would be here, and I wish I had filmed my mom's expression when I walked into the kitchen. It was a mixture of confusion, surprise, and then happiness. She shed happy tears, which was my goal!

I left San Antonio about 12 years ago, and it always feels so weird and different when I am here. Familiar but different. So many memories in this house. In this City. I was excited to take some photos here and post from the house I grew up in.

That's Petie the rat terrier. And yes, he knew how to pose for this.

We took my parents downtown to Salt Grass Steakhouse. I realize this is not steak, but it was just such a great presentation, I couldn't resist a photo. This is the crab and avocado stack, which gets served with tortilla strips.

We were only a couple of blocks away from the Alamo, so decided to take a couple of touristy pictures. It's so weird how much you take things for granted. I lived here for almost 20 years and never appreciated the Riverwalk, the Alamo, etc. until I left.

Blurry but I love this sibling shot.

Sigh. It's a quick trip, only 3 nights here, but I've eaten Mexican food for 4 out of my 5 meals already. Doesn't get old!

Where do you call home?

  1. That food looks amazing! I totally wish I could go there just to try it now! I get what you mean about going home. My husband is military so we move around a lot. It always feel so good when we go home to PA. Going home is great...but I love being able to travel and see the country too!

    1. Yes, definitely for sure! We both get to travel a lot for work, which is a big perk. But the comfort of home is awesome! Thank you for reading!
