Scarf: JCrew (option, option, love this pattern version!) | Sweater: LOFT (option, option, option) | Bracelet: Express (in hematite) | Skirt: Express (option) | Tights: DKNY | Booties: Report (option) | Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs (option, budget option) | Nail wraps: Jamberry
Remember a few weeks ago when I tried to wear this skirt, but the outfit turned out to be better without it? Well, I finally got to wear it today, and I must say, it was worth the wait. I love how stripes plus color pop just make an outfit come to life. What are the What Not to Wear rules? Color, pattern, texture, shine. I do believe I've met those rules - especially in the shine category. Kind of hard not to shine in a metallic skirt and rhinestone cuff.
And if you haven't noticed this week yet, I've been wearing these Jamberry nail wraps for the first time. I will admit that they were pretty hard to apply as a first timer. Well, not really hard, but awkward and time consuming. But they've had great staying power and really, how could I resist the animal print? I'm sure application will get easier as I continue to use them. They're definitely fun and worth trying! (No, not getting paid to say that either!)

Wow, I adore your silver skirt! And you matched this piece perfectly :) I think it's good to wear metallic clothes in the day, they make day brighter :)
ReplyDeletecrafty-zone.blogspot.com
Oh I definitely agree! There's no time like right this second for metallics! :)
DeleteThank you!
Beautiful outfit! The silver skirt is gorgeous and the violet scarf and bag are great color accents!
ReplyDeletejointyicroissanty.blogspot.com
Thanks! I'm not sure why I didn't think to pair these things together originally!
DeleteYes! Love the skirt with the stripes!! Once again, the color of the scarf looks great with your skin tone!! Thanks for sharing this with us...great idea to "quiet" down a metallic skirt, but keeping it simple at the same time :-)

Thank you! Nice to have the feedback. I kept struggling with this skirt, I should have known stripes would solve the problem! They always seem to!

ReplyDeletexo, Lee
Thanks, Lee! The nails lasted all week, and would have lasted longer but I was too excited to use some new polish! :)
DeleteI love that Rhinestone cuff, and I've always loved watching what not to wear, even if I think some of my outfits wouldn't pass their critiques...haha!
ReplyDeleteI always wonder how they'd judge me! haha scary thought. I do love the show and am sad it's over!
DeleteThanks for stopping by!

I grabbed this bag because my only black bag I have has gold hardware which I thought may look hokey with the skirt. I figured even tho this bag had gold hardware, too, at least it was purple!
DeleteThanks for the nice comment!
Lovely outfit and beautiful colors. Love the bag.

Thank you! I got this bag on sale - could not resist the color!
DeleteYour nails are very cute, and I love how you mixed all these different pieces to make a vibrant outfit. The purple is the perfect pop of color :)
ReplyDeleteEat Drink & Be Mary

Thank you! In reality, red is my favorite color, but purple is one of my favorites to actually wear! It's great for color pops like this!
DeleteYou look like a gorgeous, modern striped fembot! TOTALLY kidding. You put that thought in my head with your last metallic skirt post, so now I automatically think fembot whenever I see a metallic skirt. Seriously though, you do look gorgeous and I love the color scheme here. :) -Gina
ReplyDeleteOn the Daily Express
Haha - I don't blame you! I brought up the fembot reference every single time I mentioned this and my other metallic skirt!
DeleteAnd hey, I would take the body of a fembot, so I have no problems being compared to them :)
I just love how daring you are! You have the best ideas when it comes to mixing and matching. Great job on adding that pop of color. I don't own anything purple. I'm still searching for a great orange scarf to copy your look with the denim JCrew top. I received mine and I LOVES it! Thanks for the recommendation!! Have a lovely day, stay warm!

ReplyDeleteYes! So sad when I found out that this was their last season and now it's done - boo!! By far the best makeover show ever, and their "rules" always made sense!
DeleteAnd thank you so much!

DeleteI love the purple scarf and matching bag! Such a nice way to add colour to your outfit :)
ReplyDeleteMy fran is the "carob brown" one, which is more of a purple tinged brown. But definitely more brown toned :) But I think you can't go wrong with any colour of it really!
Away From Blue
Great - thanks! I will have to stalk it! I just love it! (As if I need another bag…)
DeleteOMG I have the same bag ( different color); our style in purses are so similar. :) Love your taste in clothes Carylee and this outfit is no different. I think because you kept everything else understated the shine works great and really goes with the purple of the bag. How about those nails; love the polish on them! XOXO, Elif

Haha! That is awesome! I basically love me a slouchy, buttery soft bag! Structured bags are great for work, but outside of work, I always reach for the buttery soft ones! And this is so great over your shoulder - just like the Foley and Corinna bag!
DeleteAnd thank you! Very very sweet comment!
