I stole this look from a friend because I'm always looking for ways to style these camo pants. I love them so much - the last time I wore them on the blog was here and I've been itching to wear them again in a way that didn't involve a chambray or a plain top. The dots are a perfect complement - I think it works because the scale of the dot print is bigger and less dense than the camo. They work together vs compete with one another.
I feel like this is the stereotypical blogger outfit. Well, I guess I should say, any time I pattern mix like this, I feel like it's the stereotypical blogger thing to do. Except I don't do it to fit the mold of a fashion blogger. I do it because it's fun. I do it because it creates interest for me when I look in the mirror. I do it because the possibilities for mixing and matching are endless if you have no boundaries. Ok, you need *some* boundaries. Fashion is about being creative though. And whether you decide to pattern mix or not, doesn't make you any more right or better than me because I do. It's just a matter of taste and I love that even though we are all different, there are still some ways we can always pull inspiration from each other. Clearly I couldn't make a living off my blogging income, or lack thereof. But I do it anyway because I love to shop and I love to engage with others who share in my same addiction. I do it because it's fun. Blogging is truly FUN for me, and I thank each one of you for making that way!

This combo is perfect! I know what you mean about stereotypical blogger, but your the firs I have seen pairing polka dots with camo.

Well, thank you for this! I did get the idea from a friend, so I can't take all the credit, but I do love this combo a lot!
DeleteAnd yes, I'm so behind on comments -_-
What a beautiful outfit! I love that jumper, it's so gorgeous and unique! :)

Thank you! I've gotten so much use out of it over the last year or so! I would never have imagined a sequin top to be so versatile!
Delete"And whether you decide to pattern mix or not, doesn't make you any more right or better than me because I do. It's just a matter of taste " LOVE this quote! That's what makes personal style blogs so fun to me...they are personal, and individual. If they were all the same it wouldn't be fun. I'm sure you can guess that I don't pattern-mix, but I still like it when other people do when it's done right...like your look here, for instance. :) Glad to see you are keeping on your NY Resolution with you nails! :)

Thank you - glad you can relate to this!!
DeleteAnd I too surprise myself with the whole nail thing. I'm definitely to the point now where I feel extra naked without any nail color on!
True, pattern mixing is so popular in blogging land. However, I'm with ya, it's super fun and this is such a fabulous combo. Amazing outfit, lovey!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely ridiculously fun! I love discovering new combinations that work! It's so satisfying!
DeleteThanks for reading!
I have this top and those pants! I may wear this combo in the near future. And yes pattern mixing may show up on blogs, but it is more and more common in the "every day" world. Just look at a lot of the spring fashions in the stores. You look great and that's all that matters!
ReplyDeleteOh, if you wear this, I hope you flag me down if I don't see it first! Would love to see you recreate it!
DeleteI have the same J.Crew top and have no idea how to style it. I have to borrow this idea asap =) Hope you have a wonderful Thursday!
ReplyDeleteI swear I wear this top all. The. Time. I hope you get use out of yours -- it's more versatile than you think!
DeleteLove this mix and match. That shirt is to die for!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! This shirt is like the gift that keeps on giving! Definitely a worthwhile purchase that I have loved styling over and over!
DeleteThis sequin top is so lovely! I adore it a lot!

Thank you so much! It's one of my all time fave pieces!
DeleteCarylee not only do I love the outfit ( of course I do, first of all there is polka dots, sequins and como and also you mixed styles which I adore classic/glam and army just LOVE) but I love your explanation of what personal taste and style is even more. The thing that attracts me to blogging about style is that it is (and should be) unique to all of us but as you mentioned we can get inspired from each other and adapt it to our own point of view ( can I sound more Tim Gunn haha) . Go for it girl do as much matching, mixing, and color blocking as you please- that is the whole point and you do it great btw! XOXO, Elif@theboxqueen
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the encouraging words! I loved reading this comment - I'm glad it's relatable, and it sounds like you are loving the blogworld as much as I am!
DeleteI love this! Normally, I steer clear of camo- but I'm really digging these pants because the camo print is a bit more subtle. They look awesome on you!

I totally used to have an aversion to camo, but I'm slowly coming around!
DeleteThis is the perfect top. What could be better than polka dots combined with some glam? Love it. Also I am so impressed how you styled camo, you have some real talent for putting together combinations.
ReplyDeleteThat means a lot coming from you! Thank you so much, girl!
DeleteI'm loving the all sequin polka-dot top!! I'm with ya...big fan of pattern mixing! You go girl!

Haha - thanks so much! I definitely know that blogging has influenced my ability to pattern mix - but now that I'm comfortable with it, it's just so much fun to get more use out of your wardrobe!
DeleteLove your mixing talent! I would've never though to pair that sequins polkadot top with camo pants. Love!!

It's amazing the prints that pair so well together! I really never realized how versatile camo was - I was always so intimidated by it! But it pairs great with stripes, too!
DeleteAdore this fun look! I've been wanting a pair of camo pants, but can't seem to find any that fit right. I'll have to check out your suggested options.

I love this pair from the Gap! Pants, in general, are so hard to shop for except for my usual couple of places. I'm very hit and miss at the Gap, so I was pleased that this pair worked out. Hope you find your perfect pair!
DeleteSo fun! Love the outfit you put together! I like the mix of the patterns! They compliment each other perfectly.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed this!
