Guys. Gina *made* me buy this cami. She's schooled me on the Barcelona cami a few times now - here, here, and here just to wet your tastebuds. I remember seeing it in the store and just felt a little meh about it. I was afraid the fit would not be flattering on me, but at the time, I was too lazy to try it on. So, I just plugged my ears and went "lalalalalalalalala" any time Gina were to post about it.
But then the lace one came out and she had to show me all the wonderful ways to wear it.
And I caved. I'm so weak. But in my defense, it's $20, so the damage to my wallet was minimal.
Sunnies: Tom Ford | Necklace: Chloe + Isabel | Wallet: Chanel | Top: Express (other good options here and here) | Bracelet: Express | Ring: BCBG | Skirt: Kate Spade (option) | Shoes: Stuart Weitzman (budget version, swoon version)
Just to further show you the versatility of this tank, I decided to try and find a different way to style this from what Gina has already proven works. I loved the idea of tucking this top into a skirt, and since this skirt already had a black waistband, it was a perfect pairing - this really reads like a dress, and I always love when that happens.
I loved the fit of this so much that I ended up ordering a few others while they were on sale --- royal purple/turquoise, snakeskin, and I about died when I saw the faux leather version. Shut up. I added that one to my cart even faster than you can say "faux leather." I feel like this is the summer alternative to a portofino in that it's so versatile and collectible. Yet, I still wear my portofino in the summer, and I know I will wear these camis in the winter, just with more layers.
In other news, this is the second time in one week that you are seeing me in slingbacks The truth is, I only have two pairs in my whole ginormous collection because I find that they are difficult to wear - the backstrap can incessantly slip off. Lucky for me, I found the two pairs in the whole universe that work perfect on my feet. And today's heels have a little story themselves - you can read how I acquired them here.
Happy Manic Monday, everyone! Hope you have a wonderful week!

You will love it! It's perfect!
DeleteLove that top!
ReplyDeleteEatPrayWearLove
Muahahaha! It won't be the last thing I make you buy. Part of it is I need you to have the same things so I can steal YOUR style ideas, much like with the Baroque Lace Tank. Hee hee. And of course, you did something totally different and unique with this top! I haven't tried it with colored bottoms but you blended it all so perfectly. Pretty! You even managed to sneak a dainty necklace in there too - I'm so copying that.
ReplyDeleteGina - On the Daily Express
Glad you liked it! It's really a great tank and can go with lots and lots and lots! I felt like it needed just a splash of neck bling, and the C&I necklace was perfect. Thanks for noticing! <3
DeleteYou and Gina are dangerous! Always showing great things that I then think I need. :)
ReplyDeleteYou look fabulous in this tank. I love the slingbacks on you.

I love that it looks like a dress - makes it easier to camouflage it as a different piece, which means I can wear it again soon! :)
DeleteThat is the cutest Chanel wallet
ReplyDeleteIsn't it, though?! I just love it.
DeleteAdore this combo! You look so pretty!!

Thanks so much Rebecca!
DeleteHahah I have almost purchased that a time or two, now. It is hard to read her blog every day and not want to go spend all my money at Express!

For reals! She does have good taste though, which makes it extra harder to resist!
DeleteLove it on you!! I absolutely blame Gina as well for making me fall in love with racerback silk cami's!! Love how you colorblocked this one..gorgeous!

They really are great, so I can't be too mad at her :)
DeleteThank you!
Ahhh so tempting, I've been peeking at these tanks for a while now but felt kind of blahhhh about them in terms of styling...BUT there you go sharing another way to style them that just might make them worth the purchase!

Happy to enable! It really is a great top, and you just can't beat that price right now! I'm loving it!
DeleteHaha. Cute top :) As long as you get some serious wear out of it, it's all good ;-)
ReplyDeleteAlex - Funky Jungle
Yes, especially for the price!
DeleteI love your colorful styling of the tank and Gina's black & white looks! I was worried about the bra-situation in this tank, but now I can envision it with a black blazer for work, in which case that whole area would be covered....
ReplyDeleteYep - it will definitely be a great layering piece in the cooler months!
DeleteOoh gina...good thing she's not a car salesman or we'd all be in really big trouble! :) I luv the tank, but I really love the skirt...so fabulous. I knew it was kate spade b4 i even looked. :)
ReplyDeleteI saw this...FYI. :P I don't think I'd be as convincing as a car salesman because I don't love cars as much as I love clothes!
DeleteHahaha! Yes, I bet she would be a good car salesman!
DeleteI wish the skirt were still available! I caught it on a surprise sale - it was such a great find!
what a gorgeous pattern mix~

Away From The Blue
I'm a sucker for lace anything lately!
DeleteGina is apparently an enabler because she made me buy a barcelona cami too! I got mine in white, but obviously going back for more! I love the sexy little fit.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's a great staple and the fit is perfect! Now I have 4. Oops!
DeleteI almost bought a barcelona cami this weekend, but I was good and didn't buy anything. I love this look. It does look like a dress which I really like.
ReplyDeleteYou have strong will power, my friend!!

I have looked at that shirt a few times at Express. Absolutely obsessed with lace! Love it with the bright skirt!
ReplyDeletehiswifeourlife.blogspot.com
It's worth it, especially for the price right now! Can't wait to restyle it!
DeleteI have to admit I have been avoiding following the links to Gina's outfit details, because she sucks you in, Express really needs to put her in their payroll, I'm sure she will work for clothes, jeje. But seriously, this top looks great on you, I love it :)
ReplyDeleteNatalia
Hahah! Yes, I agree with everything you said 100%! It's invigorating though to share shopping favorites with fellow shopaholics! Not sure why it's so gratifying when others buy the same pieces you like! Perhaps we'd feel differently if we all worked at the same place! Ha!
DeleteThank you!
Carylee, I am starting to have second thoughts about the Barcelona cami too!

Love the skirt you paired the tank with. Have a fab Tuesday, XOXO, Elif
