Last week was a crazy week! Basically had to prepare for meetings all week, and while I wasn't preparing for these meetings, I was physically in them! Friday was spent trying to get ahead as much as I could knowing I would be away from the office for a few days. We had a baseball game to go to that evening - our last regular season game!! - and that was also the iPhone 6 release date, so I was trying to get my phone all set up after work but before the game because I knew I would spend the night after the game still trying to pack!
I had everything backed up and restored onto my new phone, but it was still saying I didn't have service. We went through the same steps we did for the last 7 phones or so, so we were really confused about what was going on. The husband called AT&T on his cell (his new phone hasn't shipped yet, so nothing was changed with his phone at this time). He was on the phone with the rep for about 15 minutes - she had asked for my SIM card number, he gave it to her, then silence. He lost service on his phone. By this time, we were already en route and late to the game, so both of us had no cell service for about 4 hours.
Oh the horror. We actually had to talk! To each other!
I kid.
Sort of.
Not because we had to talk - but man, there are so many things I do with my phone - check the weather, check my calendar, watch baseball replays! - things I do without really thinking, but I realize I do once I don't have a phone on me.
We get home around 11 after the game, where I had left my old phone, and found that it still had service. So I called AT&T again, explained the situation. After about a half hour with that rep, we found out that the first rep assigned the wrong SIM number to the wrong phone (we have a shared account.) So after all was said and done - I had to put my NEW SIM in his old phone. He had to put his SIM in my OLD phone and I had to put my OLD SIM in my NEW phone. Yeah, that hurts my head, too.
All the first AT&T rep had to tell us was that I just had to switch SIM cards with my two phones. Done. Easy as that. Not sure why we didn't have to do this the other times, but whatever. Why am I telling you all this? Well, the point is - a 2 second task turned into a 6 hour debacle on top of an already crazy week, so by the time I was able to sit down and pack, I was spent.
I trusted my remixing skills, started grabbing stuff and laying it out on the floor to make sure that the pieces I was picking could create multiple outfits. Somehow, in the midst of this chaos, I only managed to bring one pair of shoes, but in hindsight, it worked out because the booties ended up pairing well with everything anyway! Gone are the days when I'm trying to wear something different everyday when I travel, and when I pack so much I have to check a bag! I took proper photos of some of the outfits I actually wore from the group above (here and here), but for those of you that prefer the good old selfie - here you go!
Scarf: Lululemon (similar) | Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs (option) | Top: Old Navy (option) | Jeans: Express (option) | Booties: Report (option, option)
Necklace: Express (option) | Top: Express (option, option) | Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs (option) | Skirt: Express | Booties: Report (option, option)
Necklace: Express (option) | Top: Express | Shorts: Express (option, option) | Booties: Report (option, option)
Other than my jeans, I never ended up having to re-wear any clothes. Oh, well, except for my booties. Perhaps I should have named this post "What to wear with black booties" instead! I never ended up needing the denim jacket, as it was definitely too warm, but it's always nice to have something like that just in case. I always enjoy reading packing posts like this, so I hope you enjoyed it as well!
Now wish me luck because the St. Louis Fashion Blog awards are tonight and I'm pretty freaking nervous!!!!!!

Thanks, lady! It's such a relief when I actually like what I've packed! Seems like such a commitment to limit yourself to one suitcase!
DeleteI just love that graphic tee!! It's so versatile! And those jeans look pretty perfect too!

It's a lot of fun! Old Navy is hit and miss but this is a hit for sure! Thanks!!
DeleteYou did an awesome job of packing! Funny how these types of posts make it look so easy in the end because it's all laid out and organized so neatly. But the process of it is like putting together a puzzle or playing tetris. This goes here, that goes there...oh wait, maybe not because then I have to wear that thing two days in a row. Anyway, GOOD LUCK TONIGHT!! I hope you have a great time and glad you got your phone to work so you can text and insta update every second of this thing.

Eeeee! Very anxious and nervous but excited all at the same time! And yes, it was not an easy feat to pack but I am glad it all worked out! Wish you were here!!
DeleteYou guys had to talk to each other haha! Glad it got resolved but I know the headache of not being able to check your phone for every little thing, you don't realize how much you really are on it!
ReplyDeleteReally cute looks! I love how you were able to wear the booties with each look! Nothing is worse than packing a million pairs of shoes!
Good luck tonight!! I'll be keeping an eye on Instagram!!

Thanks so much for all this, Erica!!!
DeleteThat phone debacle sounds like a nightmare! You picked the right shoes to pack, they really do go with everything. I've been learning to pack less. Its just not worth it in the end. BTW Love outfit #1 right up my alley. Those jeans are great!!

Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed this! As big as my closet is, when it comes to packing - less is definitely more!!
DeleteSuper cute looks! I always overpack and this is a great guide to use! I need to coordinate more outfits around one pair of shoes.

Aww you are sweet!! Thank you so so much!!
DeleteUgh! I hate packing with a passion. Most of my suitcase is shoes so I'm very impressed that you had only one pair - whether it was intentional or not. And crazy about your phone!
ReplyDeletePacking and laundry are the worst tasks ever!!! :)
DeleteThat sounds frustrating! Great job remixing your wardrobe and the booties!
ReplyDeleteYou are definitely the queen of Polyvore, your sets are so perfect. And what a phone nightmare, I mentioned on the blog today how my phone is definitely one of the things I would miss greatly if I couldn't use it or lost it, it's amazing how many things we do with them.
ReplyDeleteNatalia
I am glad you can relate! It's just so funny because I use my phone the least… as an actual phone! It's got my life in it!
DeleteAnd thanks for the note about the polyvore! I discovered polyvore in 2007 or something like that - even before Pinterest! It's definitely therapeutic!
So many cute outfits, you seriously look amazing in each one! Have a lovely weekend!
ReplyDeleteI literally didn't even know iPhone's had removable SIM cards.... and GOOD LUCK TONIGHT!
ReplyDeleteYou and me, both!!
DeleteThanks for sharing this with us at the #WWDParty. Hope you are having a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteGirl, you have some SERIOUS remixing skills. Loved EACH and EVERY outfit.

Thank you SO much! Glad you enjoyed this!
DeleteI love these kind of posts...I always feel so stressed when I pack. Nice touch including actual pictures of you wearing the items, bc I always wonder if the "mixes" will look as good in real life. I love the pic of you in the scarf and jeans...those jeans are hotu!!!
ReplyDeleteOh it's so great when the real life outfits look just as good on as they do in my head! That's also half the reason why I love making sure all my things I pack mix and match - backup outfits in case certain combos *don't* work in real life!
DeleteYou are a great remixer!! I really like all of these outfits, but the polka dot top one is my favorite! I hope you had a great time at blog awards!

DeleteYou chose such great, basic, neutral versatile pieces. Great packing. I love all the outfits you created, Carylee. And what a great trip it was - meeting your nephew and Gina. =)))
ReplyDeleteYes it definitely was! Two perfect meet ups!!
DeleteThank you!
