The last 10 days of my life have been ridiculously busy! I've been exhausted since the Night at the Races event a couple of Fridays ago, and the momentum hasn't slowed down since. I never even got around to writing a post for this past Friday, and that kind of says a lot because I never miss a post! Not only was last weekend jam packed, but I spent the majority of the week in NYC because of work, which meant early mornings and late nights. I'm just not equipped to handle that like I used to! In true Carylee fashion, I've got a couple of travel recap posts for you - this one focusing on what I wore, and tomorrow's post being all about everything I saw. Let's get started with my itinerary!
Tuesday:
-- Travel day. Flight at 6am.
-- Land around 9:30. Head to job site under construction.
-- Check in to hotel, then lunch.
-- Light Fair at the Javitz Convention Center
-- Happy hour then dinner
Wednesday:
-- Ready by 7:30am
-- Market tour of the city, predominantly on foot, all morning through early afternoon.
-- Light Fair at the Javitz Convention Center
-- Happy hour then dinner
Thursday:
-- Breakfast
-- Meeting with vendor from 9-1, walking distance from hotel
-- Head to airport for 3pm flight
Needless to say - lots of walking. And I was banking on having to lug my suitcase around on my two travel days, so I knew I needed to pack light. Comfortable shoes were a must, and flats just don't do it for me. I needed to wear socks and shoes, so I decided flat booties would be the best. And I basically built my outfits from there.
Jacket: Express (option, LOVE this moto style option) | Top: Bellatrix (option, option, option) | Bottoms: Express | Booties: Sam Edelman
First up, my travel day outfit. It was actually going to hit 80 degrees that first day, so I opted for short sleeves and a light jacket that I could throw in my bag once I got heated! I'm kind of over trying to make chinos work in my life because I never really need them outside of my random work trips like this, so instead, I just reached for all of my colored, skinny fit bottoms, which actually look the best with these booties anyway.
Top: Express | Bottoms: Express (option) | Booties: Sam Edelman
Sorry I can't find another pair of actual wine colored skinnies to link to as an option. I swear, they're so hard to find, so when Express decides to come out with them again, I suggest you not think twice about it. They're a bit wrinkly in this pic, sorry, I should have done these flat lays BEFORE I wore these pieces and not after being thrown in my suitcase after 16 hours of wear! But, you get the idea. They're a great neutral and pair perfect with my dot portofino.
Top: LOFT (option) | Scarf: TCL Boutique (c/o) | Bottoms: Express (option, option) | Booties: Sam Edelman
I could have easily done a portofino plus colored bottoms every day, but I was *trying* not to. I figured a comfy tee and lightweight scarf would be perfect for day three, especially since I'd be headed back home. I made sure my olive military jacket went well with all three outfits also, which was a good idea because after the hellishly hot day on Tuesday, it cooled off for the rest of my stay there.
1: Monday travel outfit | 2: Monday Dinner outfit adjustments, after sweating all day | 3: Wednesday day/night outfit | 4: Thursday travel outfit
Unfortunately, the hotel room conditions were not the best for outfit photos. The window was behind me, which sucked for lighting. And I hated that I had to stand up against the bed to be able to get my whole outfit in the camera shot. I know, I know, the struggle! But for the sake of being able to see the outfits in real life, I'm sharing the selfies anyway.
Outside of celebrating Mother's Day yesterday, I was so so so happy to have no hard plans this weekend. I definitely needed the break, and it was rainy all weekend, so I think Mother Nature was encouraging me to stay home! I'll be back tomorrow with a few photos from my foot tour around the city!

You were certainly busy but looked great every day!! I can totally re-create your look with the burgandy skinnies and polka dot shirt! That's going to one of my looks this week! It's so funny the things you remember you have in your closet after seeing them on others!!
ReplyDeleteI'm sort of jealous of the fact that you travel for work but I get how that can be tiring too. You definitely planned some chic outfits though! The last look is my favorite

Despite the not so ideal setting, you seem to have captured some great selfies! Your selfie game is strong! My selfie game is a work in progress! The struggle is real, but I seem to have atleast one useable photo after about 30 tries! Lol!
