Eeeee, this post is late! It was supposed to be live at midnight central time. Jenna is off backpacking out of cell service and was very diligent in getting her post and the reminder email scheduled before she left. I, on the other hand, am just getting around to writing this at midnight central time! Not that it's a big deal at all, but I do feel bad!
The weekend visiting the nephew has been fab! I will have to catch you up on the shenanigans later this week, but for now, I wanted to make sure I let you know about my Labor Day weekend purchases! Let's get started since I'm already late!
Clockwise from top left: Yellow Zip Front Tee | Olive V-neck Hi-Lo Tunic | Textured knit moto jacket | Pleated skirt | Oversized plaid top in berry
As soon as the Express sale went live at midnight, I immediately had to place an order because I had a severe fear of missing out on some of the favorites I've been craving. Unfortunately, the sale is 40% off only on jeans, tops, and dresses, and the one thing that I was waiting for was the Textured knit moto jacket in berry. Lucky for me, I had $45 in Express rewards that quickly went towards that jacket. I already have it in two other colors (ivory and olive) so I definitely needed this to complete my trilogy.
The Oversized plaid top in berry - I just could not resist. My oversized plaid top collection is going to start competing with my portofino collection pretty quickly! I just love how super soft this top is, and the berry is such a great color!
The other two tops I just grabbed because the sale was too good! And as I was looking through JCrew Factory's sale - I fell in love with the pleated skirt. I've been hunting for a blush colored skirt like this, so I'm really hoping it works out!!
The husband and I had to pick up a gift for the nephew, and since my sister was running around doing last minute party stuff, we needed to pass some time while we waited for her to come home. This was fine with me because I wanted to check out some of the sale stuff in person. We really only had time for two stores. The husband wanted to stop into Apple, so naturally, I picked Express.
I picked up this dress because: stripes and berry. Need I say more? It was a little more body conscious than I had hoped it would be - I'm wearing a medium. I have several striped dresses from Express from a few years ago that are still my favorite (in which I wear a small in, so they're more relaxed), but this was definitely not like those. I would have had to size up two more sizes if I wanted it to fit like those dresses. This was a no for me.
I had ordered a pair of girlfriend jeans during their big jeans sale, and they were HUGE on me. I've been wanting to size down to see if that made much of a difference, so I grabbed this distressed pair. They were just meh to me. Not my favorite at all, and the butt kind of felt like mom jeans to me. They look great in the stock photos, but clearly, my body type is not flattering for this style, and that's ok!
The scarf was the first thing I picked up when I walked into the store. I've been wanting an olive scarf, and this one is perfect! I knew it was going home with me. The dressing room attendant brought me this One Eleven V-neck tunic as a suggested try-on piece, and I gotta say, I loved it a lot. I can see their marketing tactics on this line - super soft and affordably priced. I wouldn't necessarily say this is a tunic on me - maybe if I had sized up (I'm actually wearing an extra small in this.) I didn't want to size up, because that would make the V-neck really low on me, and I think it defeats the purpose of having a super soft comfy tee if I have to wear a cami under it.
This One Eleven ribbed mock neck tank was also a suggested try-on from the fitting room attendant. I was not a fan. As much as I love the way flowy tops like this *feel* on me, I hate the way they look on me. They're not flattering and they just make my midsection look way bigger than it is. And since my midsection is already my problem area, it's just no bueno. I knew I would not like it, but I tried it on anyway because I needed a top to wear under the floral diamond print blazer so that I wasn't taking photos in my bra! Ha!
I loved the floral diamond print blazer a lot, but with limited packing space, I passed on it for now. I'll definitely be stalking it, and I may just end up ordering it because I do adore the print a lot, and I need more blazers in my life!
One Eleven V-neck tunic | Southwestern print scarf | Earrings: Kendra Scott | Jeans: Express | Heels: Vince Camuto (similar)
So, the only things I ended up buying in store were the One Eleven V-neck tunic and the Southwestern print scarf. Ironically, neither of them were on sale - ha! Oh well! I figured the scarf would be handy to fly home in. I usually travel with a scarf that doubles as a wrap on the plane in case it's cold, but I skipped it this time around and regretted it. Not that I don't love the scarf anyway because it's awesome!
If you want to see how my "bought" list compared to my original wish list, you can check out Gina's post here.
Whew! And that's it! I think this is the fastest I have written a post ever, although, I did do some of my link saving last night, which definitely helps expedite the post writing! Hope you all are having a great long weekend! Please let me know what you've bought!!

You do such a great job on your shopping recap posts! They are so fun!! I really love that striped dress you tried on. (I know...can you believe I'm saying that??) I saw a black/white striped one but not that berry version and I like the colors of yours better. Also,@erinerinhartman loves those One Eleven tees you got. She said they're one of her new favorites for fall. I haven't tried them yet because I wanted stuff I can wear now and that was on sale, so it didn't make the cut. Also...I don't like it when sales attendants bring me stuff (at any store) unless I asked them too! But you were nice to try on their selections. Can't wait to see how you wear all your goodies!
