Happy hump day! Today I'm sharing another look I wore in Myrtle Beach! The trip was really fast - we got in Friday evening in time for dinner, had all day Saturday there, then flew out Sunday afternoon. Somehow it still took me forever to pack 2.5 outfits, just as it always does. I decided to reach for some of my old favorites knowing they would all work together one way or another, but not necessarily planning full outfits as I packed. I decided the layers would be perfect for the plane, but still felt cute enough to play tourist in for my last few hours there.
I was a bad blogger and didn't take nearly as many photos as I normally do when I travel. Ok, I didn't really take any photos at all outside of my outfit photos today and what you saw on Monday. You'll just have to take my word for it that it was fun. A quick recap of where we ate first!
Friday dinner: The husband is a huge fan of barbecue and since neither of us had really had Carolina BBQ before, we made sure to ask my friend if there was a good place we could have dinner! She took us to True BBQ and it did not disappoint! We ended up splitting a sampler dinner so we could try a little bit of everything - ribs, chicken, brisket, and pulled pork. Naturally we had a ton of sweet tea to wash it down.
Saturday lunch: We didn't have a proper breakfast because we started our morning a little later than we had wanted to, but we ended up having lunch at Cook Out, which I feel is the south's answer to In and Out. It's just a good fast food burger that tasted fresh off the grill. I wouldn't necessarily compare it to In and Out because they're different kinds of burgers, but it was quite delicious! And any place where you can get corndogs as a *side* is definitely a place I can get used to!
Saturday drinks and apps: We went to the cutest place called The Chemist. Everything was very themed around chemistry, hence the name. The tables were all donned with an element, the drinks were served in beakers and flasks, and both the menu and coasters lit up! The details were pretty genius. We had a couple drinks there (I had the Professor's Punch) and we split the "Buck Rabbit" appetizer. It wasn't rabbit, nor was it buck. But it was ridiculously tasty. I could have eaten the whole thing myself!!
Saturday dinner: We felt like seafood, so my friend took us to Mr. Fish. I ended up getting the snow crab legs because, well, I love crab legs. They served hush puppies just as restaurants would normally serve bread as you wait for your food. But the best part was that they served it with honey butter! Holy delicious! That changed how I want to eat hush puppies from now on!
Saturday dessert: We basically had our tour of restaurants in the evening alone! This may have been my most favorite part of the night though. Maybe. The place was called Collectors Cafe. I had French Toast cheesecake! There were bits of bacon in it! Enough said. I devoured it.
Sunday brunch: Unfortunately, my friend ended up coming down with something overnight so the husband and I were on our own for brunch. Yelp told us we should eat at Johnny D's Waffles and Bakery. Ironically, neither of us felt like sweets, so we both did savory. They had a ton of benedicts to chose from, so I went with the Irish benedict which was basically corn beef hash, eggs, muffin, and hollandaise sauce.
Outside of eating, we didn't really do much else! I mean we did, but we didn't. Saturday afternoon we went to a car museum called the Wheels of Yesteryear. The husband is the one who is really into cars, but I don't mind seeing old cars like these! AND! The Joe Dirt car was there! Apparently, after the movie was done filming, the car was sold on eBay. The buyers didn't realize until they got the car that inside was an original script, David Spade's mullet wig, and a bunch of other film goodies! It was pretty cool to see in real life. What's even more awesome is that my friend posted a pic of her next to the car and the real David Spade "liked" it on Instagram! Winning!
The reason we were able to get to Myrtle Beach for free in the first place was because the husband found a deal, but the catch was that we had to listen to a time share presentation for 2 hours. We both went into it absolutely not wanting to buy one, but alas, by the end of it all, we decided to go for it. The reasons for doing so probably merit its own post, so I won't go into the details here. I'm happy to answer questions though if you guys have any!
We ended our trip at the outlet mall - wooohooo! What's funny is that we each agreed to pick one store that we would both shop at. I picked the JCrew outlet and he picked Polo. The sales were ridiculous. He caught up with me at JCrew and said they were basically giving away his favorite sweaters. JCrew had 40% off the entire store, plus I had a coupon for an extra 20% off at participating outlet mall retailers! I'll be sharing all my purchases in tomorrow's post!
And that's it! Again, sorry for the lack of vacation photos. Hopefully you were able to catch a few snippets on Snapchat! Now it's time for me to sleep!!
