I feel like it's so early to start thinking about holiday outfits, but at the same time, I'm already being invited to holiday party events! Geez! Where the heck does time go?! My hunt for holiday style dresses started when I was dress shopping for a wedding later this month. My favorite places to shop for quality and affordable party dresses are Nordstrom Rack, Saks Off 5th, and Neiman Marcus Last Call. It's great since inventory can be limited so it's less likely someone else will be wearing your exact dress at the event. It's even better that you can shop those places all online because let's be real. It is a LOT of work to dig and treasure hunt in the brick and mortar stores. The luxury of being able to sort by size, dress type, and price all in the comfort of your jammies is quite nice!
Luckily, I didn't even have to do much searching before I stumbled upon this dress. The faux suede + mock neck combo make it an appropriate cooler-weather dress. The flirty skirt and shorter length help offset the conservative neckline, making me feel perfectly feminine and flirty. And hello, the color! What's not to love about this saturated color! It was regularly $179, and I was able to snag it for $70 and change. It was a no brainer.
I decided to style it with fleece lined tights and my wedge booties, just to let my feet disappear and really make the dress stand on its own. Depending on how the weather is on the actual wedding day, I may do nude fishnets and my glitter pumps instead. We will see! But speaking of these tights. I am such a fan of fleece lined tights because they're so opaque in addition to providing a little more warmth than your usual tights. I definitely recommend trying a pair or two from Target if you haven't already. For $10, it's worth the try for sure!
I can definitely see myself repurposing this dress for the holidays, too, even though the original intent was to wear this for the wedding. It's so soft and stretchy, which makes it really movable and comfortable to wear, even with a belly full of holiday food.
We are hosting Thanksgiving at our house this year, which is a pretty big deal!! Especially since my family is all coming in from out of town and staying with us! It's going to be a busy month preparing everything for them, and I'm sure I will be running around like crazy the week of Thanksgiving, but it will be worth it! I can't wait! What are your plans for the holidays?
Such a beautiful dress, love the color on you!
