Yesterday it hit 79 degrees and it was glorious!!! I live in chino shorts when the weather finally warms up. Anything + chino shorts = an outfit, and that is extra convenient! I decided to be just a bit preppy and throw on this plaid top with some clustered baubles because these baubles always pair best with plaid for some reason!
This is my first plaid boyfriend top from American Eagle. Note that I say "first" because I'm sure there will be more. I don't *need* any more plaid tops at the moment, so I'm trying not to stalk their other colors, but I would even venture to say I love the fit and material of this even more so than my beloved plaid tops from Express. It's flannel, but very soft and lightweight, which makes it perfect for a transitional outfit like this into spring. It's relaxed but not super oversized. When untucked it's still long enough to cover all my bits with leggings (you can see it worn that way here.) It's 50% off as I'm writing this post, making it $22 and change. Worth the try for that price! I'm wearing a small for reference.
As I was getting dressed, I realized I have a lot of pairs of cognac sandals, but they all serve different purposes. I tried on each pair with this outfit but this pair covered too much of my foot which conflicted too much with the light and airy feel of the look, this pair made the outfit too bottom heavy, and this pair felt like it dressed up the outfit too much. The pair I chose was just what I was looking for - a wedge to give me height, but a silhouette that was more streamlined. So when someone asks you how many pairs of cognac shoes you really need, the answer is, "all of them!"
In other news, my new reformer arrived on Friday and it is absolutely amazing! It is so so nice getting to work out in the comfort of my own home and at my own schedule! That was definitely the climax of my weekend! Though, we did get to go to our second baseball game of the season on Saturday and met some friends for a frozen custard date on Sunday. Any weekend that ends with frozen custard has got to be a good one right?
Have a great week!
Oh yes that sounds like wonderful end to the weekend! :)
ReplyDeleteI really like this outfit too, what a lovely shirt and the necklace is perfect with it.

Super cute outfit! And I agree totally that you need all of the cognac sandals. I have about 90 pairs of jeans (not even exaggerating) and they all serve a different purpose. Different styles, different colors, different weights, different sizes! I really do need them all. And the same absolutely goes for the shoes!

Cognac is a color you can't live without in spring! I own a few pairs myself and they all serve a different purpose. Ain't American eagle flannel the best? I definitely love them more than express ones. Thank you for hosting

I know what you mean about your shoes---it's not just the color but the shape & style that can make them wrong or right. Your story about them sounded like the 3 bears!! :)

I have always loved the look of long sleeves + shorts and this is no exception. You are really selling me on those plaid shirts! I also don't need anymore plaid shirts but now I am intrigued!
