If you were an avid Friends watcher like I was, then you remember Joey and Janice's day of fun!! Every once in awhile, the husband and I make our own days of fun. On Friday after work he tells me, "We haven't had a Matt and Caryl day of fun in awhile!" He wanted to head to the mall to find some new luggage, test drive some cars (because I just paid my last lease payment), and perhaps get a pedi! He basically had me at "mall!" This is what I wore for our adventures!
I posted a flat lay of this outfit on Instagram here and it was pretty well received. It definitely looks and feels like something you would wear on vacation. I honestly don't normally wear this hat unless I'm on vacation, but on a day where I didn't feel like doing my hair, it was perfect! This is also the same top I have in ivory that I wore in Dallas here. After I wrote that Dallas recap, I decided I wanted to get the top in this charcoal color while it was still available, and now you should, too!
Friday night we went to a Cardinals game, and we have to walk through Kiener Plaza to get from the parking garage to the stadium. Well, the plaza closed for re-construction in February of 2016 and had its grand reopening to the public this past weekend. It's beautiful! It was a bit smelly and not well drained before (there was always sitting water everywhere, which meant icky bugs) so I was excited to see it redone, clean, and FULL of people. I told the husband that as part of our day of fun, we should take blog photos there and he obliged.
Loopy Case in Wine (I just ordered it in White Marble!)
Before I got on, let me talk about this phone case for a bit. I just ordered my third one, not because the other two have failed, but because I love it so much and they keep releasing new colors. The first one I ordered was navy, which certainly wasn't my first choice of colors, but the best option. I then ordered this wine version, which I really love, but this weekend they released white marble and I thought that would be a nice girly change. The loop is seriously so convenient when I don't have pockets! My phone is in my hand so much of the time even if I do have pockets, and having the loop handy makes it so much easier to do things like maneuver around the airport or juggle things in and out of the grocery store. Totally not a sponsored post, I'm just a big fan of this case. So clever.
Photos didn't take very long, so lunch was next on our list. We originally wanted to go to Rooster, which is one of my favorite brunch places downtown, but we decided to try Sauce on the Side for the first time.
"Which Came First" calzone from Sauce on the Side
It's a fast casual restaurant that only serves calzones, but it's any and every calzone combination you could possibly think of! I decided to get one called "Which Came First." It was filled with eggs, chicken, bacon, cheese, jalapeƱos, and then served with salsa verde on the side. I devoured it. Anything with eggs is basically a big win for me!
We hopped over to the mall and the husband started his search for a new carry on bag and a new work backpack. He found this Briggs & Riley that he liked a lot, but they didn't have the olive in store, so he's picking it up on Monday. It's pricey, but considering he had 60 flights last year, he needs a bag that won't need to be replaced every year, and this one has a lifetime warranty. The backpack is still a debate. When he picks up his luggage on Monday, he's going to bring his current backpack in so he can see how his stuff fits in the two bags over which he was debating.
I had to buy a couple of strapless bras because mine are so stretched out, they are no longer supportive! And then I went into Nordstrom to buy some translucent powder and ended up leaving with a whole new Trish McEvoy planner set! Whoops! If you recall, I've bought one for the last two years for the anniversary sale, so I figure this is now one less thing I have to buy this summer. But what sold me is that it is the smaller size that I originally had and used to love, which is so ideal for travel. I love and currently use all of the contents religiously, so it will all get used!
BMW 540 vs the Infiniti Q70L
After the mall we spent 5 hours car shopping. Yep, it's painful. I test drove 4 cars and while initially I really wanted the BMW 540, I decided on the Infiniti Q70L. The difference between the BMW 340 and 540 were like night and day. I didn't even want to drive the 540 because the 340 felt so rough and cheap. But alas, I fell in love with the 540, but hated the price point. It was more expensive than what I paid for my Audi, but didn't have all of the features I'm used to my Audi having. I was quite pleased that the Infiniti was not only cheaper than the BMW, it was cheaper than my Audi, and lower car payments sounds like heaven.
The L in the Q70L stands for "long wheelbase." I wasn't originally a fan of the longer wheelbase, but the husband was pretty adamant about it. When I found out the interior we liked was only available with the Q70L, I finally agreed with the husband on the longer car. My exact car is the one pictured above but it will be black not blue. They had to do a dealer trade, but the plan is for it to come in and be ready for me to pick up on Thursday!!!! EEEK! Is it sad that what makes me most excited about getting a new car is the new car smell?
I loved my Audi, but I just had really random issues with it. I had 4 flat tires in it, which is stupid, and the tire pressure sensor is not helpful at all. It tells you one of your tires is low, but not which one! And then they equip the car with the wrong lug nut key. On black friday, we had a flat tire and my brother couldn't change the tire because he couldn't get the lug nuts off. We called Audi roadside assistance, but they sent some random guy who wasn't even equipped with Audi tools! And the cup holders. They cut holes in styrofoam cups. Just little things like that that you really shouldn't have to worry about in a car that price. So. Fingers crossed that this Infiniti is awesome because we are buying and not leasing this time around. My dad has had the same Infiniti for 10+ years now and is about to buy a second one next year. I certainly value his opinion!
And that is it! Whew! Quite the packed Saturday! Luckily Sunday was spent catching up on the blog and mentally preparing for the week! Speaking of the week, hope yours is good!
