Hope everyone had (is having) a great Labor Day weekend! We are in San Antonio as we speak, but I managed to shop some sales over the weekend and thought I would share some of my dressing room diaries and purchases with you! Let's get started!
My size info for reference:
Height: 5'-2"
Bust: 34"
Waist: 26" (usually a 4 in Express or American Eagle jeans)
Top: Express Lace Smocked Hem blouse (I'm wearing a small) | Jeans: Express Mid Rise Super Soft Jean Legging (I'm wearing a 4 short)
I loved the idea of this top because I need more yellow in my life! The yellow is so so pretty! Unfortunately, I didn't think the smocked hem was particularly flattering on me. I'm already pretty square shaped and this top just made me look even more square. I tried to let it blouse a little by pulling the hem up to my natural waist, and it just looked frumpy and awkward. It's definitely worth the try if your body shape lends itself better to this smock hem!
I haven't bought a pair of Express jeans in what feels like an eternity, so I wanted to try on a couple of pairs. This pair lives up to its "super soft" name, and while they fit great through my hips and legs, I wish they were low rise and not mid rise. You can see the model's belly button in the stock photo, but I'm already so short-torso'd that you can't see my belly button at all. My waist is my problem area and the extra fabric around my waist just made me feel self-conscious and uncomfortable. Sadly, I passed on the jeans.
Top: Express Tie Sleeve Cold Shoulder Tee (I'm wearing an XS) | Jeans: Express Mid Rise Super Soft Jean Legging (I'm wearing a 4 short)
Speaking of beautiful colors, I loved the pink of this top! I wanted to love it, but it was a bit voluminous for me. It also ran really big. I am wearing an XS, and had I been more interested in it, I would have wanted to see what an XXS felt like for comparison. I passed on this top.
Top: Express Piped Zip Front tank (I'm wearing a Small) | Jeans: Express Mid Rise Super Soft Jean Legging (I'm wearing a 4 short)
This top is basically a tank version of this capped sleeved shirt. I loved the blush color and knew this would be a good layering piece for the fall, but it definitely still looks great on its own. The contrast piping gives it a little extra oomph for me! It's a great length, but thin enough to tuck perfectly into skirts. This top came home with me.
Top: Express Plaid Lace Up Tee (I'm wearing a small) | Jeans: Express Mid-Rise Dark Wash Distressed Stretch Jean Legging (I'm wearing a 4 short)
This top was too easy to not come home with me. It's super soft. It's plaid. It will look great under an olive utility jacket in the fall with cognac booties. It's a crazy easy piece to throw on. For 40% off, it was a no brainer.
Top: Express Double Ruffle Shoulder Scoop Neck Tee (I'm wearing a small in the left and a medium on the right) | Jeans: Express Mid-Rise Dark Wash Distressed Stretch Jean Legging (I'm wearing a 4 short)
I need more basic, easy tees in my life and I liked the idea of this one with the ruffle sleeves. I do think it runs just a touch small. I'm wearing a small in the left, and it almost felt like a 90's babydoll tee shirt from Contempo. I sized up to a medium and it felt more comfy. Just subtle differences as you can (or can't see!) in these two photos, but I got about an inch more length and the ruffles on the sleeves are just a little more relaxed. I also think it gave my girls a little more breathing room, and trust me, my girls are not big by any means!! The medium came home with me.
Top: Express Double Ruffle Shoulder Scoop Neck Tee (I'm wearing a medium) | Jeans: Banana Republic Knot-Wrap Skirt (I'm wearing a 4)
I went into American Eagle and Gap, but left empty handed. I ventured into Banana and found this skirt on their sale rack. I mentioned needing to fill my skirt collection and this one came home with me.
Dress: Evereve | Bag: Valentino Rockstud Spike | Sandals: Sam Edeman "Gigi" (in almond patent)
I probably should have opened with what I wore to shop, but here it is before I forget. It's hot here, so an easy tee shirt dress was a good choice. Clearly the bag is the highlight of the outfit!!!
And then these are the random online purchases I have on their way to me, too. Such a random grouping of items, but I will let you know how they all work out! I'm off to a 6-year old birthday party now! Have a great week!
Oh I love the metallic Rebecca Minkoff bag you bought! I'm wearing my silver mini MAC today :)
ReplyDeleteI like all the bright coloured tops you tried on too, even if you didn't buy any of them.
I just returned to shopping in August after not buying anything all year, so I've linked up that post showing my saves and splurges! Thank you for the link up!
Hope you have had a great weekend! :)

The yellow top is so pretty, what a shame it wasn't the right fit. I love the embroidered shoes and silver bag you ordered online.
