First off, thank you so much for all of your sweet comments and understanding about my struggles with the blog and motivation and time management and all of that! Clearly, I'm not in a boat all by myself. Many of you shared the same sentiments, so I'm definitely not alone in a bubble. One thing that I decided is that I am no longer going to get dressed solely for the reason to take photos. That time to get ready is precious, and it adds stress on me when I really don't need it to! This might mean that I don't have proper blog photos for a Monday post, but that is A-OK to me. There are plenty of other things I can share with you guys like my roundup of outfit selfies. These are outfits I wore in chronological order last week, so let's get started!
Cardigan: Grace and Lace "Grab and Go" | Necklace: Kendra Scott "Lizzie" | Tank: Grace and Lace "Perfect Fit shorter length" | Skirt: Express | Heels: Valentino "Rockstud"
I love being able to share these in chronological order because then you can see how my hair progresses throughout the week, too! I've started not styling my hair at all on day 1 with freshly washed hair. I just wash and blow dry to about 95% dry and that is it. I don't tease the crown, I don't use any products, I just go au-naturale. As far as my outfit - we were pushing 60 degrees this day, so I figured I would use the opportunity to let my legs get some fresh air and see daylight! This skirt is so old, but it's such a long time favorite. I couldn't get dressed without it!
Tuesday
Cardigan: Modcloth "Airport Greeting cardigan" | Tank: Grace and Lace "Perfect Fit shorter length" | Necklace: Kendra Scott "Rayne" (similar) | Leggings: Spanx "Look at me now seamless leggings" in black camo (also sold here) | Booties: Matt Bernson "Brooklyn" (limited sizes)
Yes, I wore the same tank two days in a row. It happens....
Tuesday evenings I teach Pilates right after work. It takes a good 45 minutes to an hour to drive from the office to the studio and since traffic is so unpredictable, if I can save time by wearing something to the office that I can also teach in, I will do it! And that's what I did this day. I did ditch the booties and threw on some Converse to teach. I'm super glad we have a pretty laid back dress code at the office and I can wear basically anything.
For my day 2 hair, I teased the crown, and also teased my long, side-swept bangs so I could pin them back into this little bump. I knew I wanted to curl my hair the next day, which is why I left it straight for day 2.
Wednesday
Top: CS Gems (option, cheaper here) | Skirt: Express | Tights: Target (similar) | Booties: Christian Louboutin
On Wednesday, one of our vendors came into town for a meeting with us and then they treated our department out for a holiday dinner at an Italian restaurant called Sapore in Kirkwood. I got this top from CS Gems shortly after Thanksgiving, and I had intended to wear it to one of our holiday festivities. I was happy when I realized that I hadn't worn it yet, because it was perfect for tucking into my New Year's Eve skirt! I kept getting comments about how fancy I was dressed this day, and more comments than usual about my booties and their red soles. Which is funny because I legit wore these booties the week prior - it's not like I only wear them for special occasions, which is what was implied. Someone asked me if they were real and I told them I was offended that they'd think I would buy fakes!! But I digress.
I always like curling my hair for "special" occasions, so I did the middle part with all over curls. Day 3 is probably my favorite day to curl my hair because it's not super dirty, but dirty enough. If that makes sense.
Thursday
This is the same outfit I wore in last week's blog post here, but I decided to do the over-the-knee boots because I didn't like how my jeans were gathering at the knee in those photos! I think that's why I love OTK boots with pants - because it keeps your legs seamless! I do prefer the look of the lighter colored neutral boots with this outfit over this cognac pair, but the gathering at the knee with my jeans and the other boots really bugged me, so I got over color.
I had leftover curls from the day before, so I just let them do their thang and teased the crown and pinned it back into this half-up do.
Friday
Sweater: Express | Tank: CS Gems (I'm wearing it backwards) | Ponte knit pant: American Eagle | Boots: Vince Camuto "Hollie"
Day 5 hair is definitely pretty dirty at this point, so it was going up. I had a work conference in the day (I'll share that outfit and more about that conference on Friday), but this is what I wore to dinner that evening. My hair style for day and night were the same. We went to a hibachi dinner and grabbed some drinks for a friend's birthday. This outfit was perfectly cozy for a night out. This sweater is crazy old, but will always be one of my favorites.
That is all I have for you on this Monday! Hope everyone has a great week!
Oh the ruffled skirt and top together is such a fun pairing, a nice dinner outfit! :) It is interesting seeing your hair style progression too. I can't go that long without washing my hair, but maybe if I tried more styles with it I could!

ReplyDeleteThe chronological hair narration was so fun! And oh, the comment brigade!! People are so amusing with their outfit commentary! I have to wonder...do they think THEY would like it if you started scrutinizing and making comments in return? I doubt it!

Well I don't think I can pick a favorite. I thought the skirt and tank in the first outfit were the Leith dress from Nordstrom. 😉 I love that strappy tank! Happy Monday!
